The Newton Child Care Commission receives funding for operational expenses through the City of Newton. Funding for the Newton Child Care Fund, the scholarship arm of the organization, is raised through private donations, direct mail, corporate and foundation grants and other fund raising events.

Family Child Care

Listed below (by village) are the Family Child Care Providers in Newton licensed by the Department of Early Education & Care. Family day care is care provided by individuals in their homes for up to six children at any one time. Large family day care programs are licensed for up to ten children at any one time. Hours, cost, structure and daily activities, as well as the ages of children accepted in each program, varies.

Child Development Associates (CDA) is a national credentialing program which sets standards, evaluates and recognizes the competence of child care providers. Providers accredited by CDA are indicated by an  O.

Pre-School Programs

Pre-school programs vary in the hours and days, from half-day nursery schools to full day/full year programs. Many half day programs do offer extended hours. Generally, children must be at least 2 years 9 months to begin pre-school in September. In planning for your child as he/she begins pre-school, be aware that children must be 5 years old on or before August 31st in order to enter Kindergarten. (*) = offers a full day program.
